Visiting the art capital

In this part of the lesson, students read two descriptions of museums and decide which of them refers to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and which to The Museum of Modern Art. To help them do that, the teacher can show them the photos of the two museums. The links to the photos are provided in the worksheet. After that, students look at the descriptions again and words that fall into three categories: adjectives to describe art (e.g. classical, abstract), words for describing buildings (e.g. brand-new, accessible), words describing types of art (e.g. sketches, landscapes). Then, students move on to another speaking task and decide whether they agree with some statements and practise talking about art. Finally, students imagine that they are planning an art show. They have to describe it using several questions as a guide.
