About Course

The TOEIC® Listening and Reading Test is a benchmark for decision-makers worldwide. It measures written and oral comprehension skills in English, from beginner to advanced levels, in a professional context. It determines non-native English speakers’ ability to communicate in English in the workplace.

 

Test information

  • Total Test Length: 2 hours or 1 hour (only available for professional organizations)
  • Score Validity: 2 years
  • Format: pencil and paper or online (on a computer or tablet)
  • Levels assessed: beginner to advanced (A1 to C1 according to CECRL)
  • Skills assessed: reading and listening comprehension via multiple choice questions
  • Test Discounts are available for: students, members of the armed forces, and job seekers

Content and Test Format

The TOEIC Listening and Reading test is available in 2h and 1h (Multistage Adaptive) versions. The 1h version of the test is reserved for candidates from professional organizations.

SECTION I: LISTENING (Listening Comprehension)

Test takers listen to a series of questions and short conversations recorded in English, then answer questions based on what they have heard.

For the section of the Listening Multistage Adaptive version, the results obtained in Unit 1 (Parts 1-4) determine the series of questions asked in Unit 2 (Parts 2-4).

  • Part 1: Photographs
  • Part 2: Questions and answers
  • Part 3: Conversations
  • Part 4: Short presentations

2h version = 100 questions in 45 minutes.

1h Version, Multistage Adaptive = 45 questions in 25 minutes.

 

SECTION II: READING (Reading comprehension)

Test takers read a variety of written documents relating to everyday and professional life, then answer questions based on what they have read, at their own pace.

For this section of the Reading Multistage Adaptive version: the results obtained in Unit 1 (Parts 5-7) determine the series of questions asked in Unit 2 (Parts 5-7).

  • Part 5: Incomplete sentences
  • Part 6: Text completions
  • Part 7: Reading comprehension

2h Version = 100 questions in 75 minutes.

1h Version, Multistage Adaptive = 45 questions in around 37 minutes.

 

How Can I Register and/or Take the Test?

TOEIC® Listening and Reading test sessions are organized year-round at our Public Program test centers throughout France.

Check the session dates offered by each center and register directly on our website by clicking on the “Register” button. Depending on your availability and location, you’ll easily find a Public Program test center near you.

Please note that you’ll need to upload a passport-style photo before your test day, as this will appear on your results certificate.

If you are taking an English language course or are a student, your training organization, school or university may offer you the opportunity to take the test as part of your studies or training. In this case, please contact your school or university to find out how to register.
