Visiting the art capital

At the beginning of the lesson, students look at three photos of New York and try to guess what city it is and what the places are called. They also discuss what the city is famous for and why it attracts people. Then, students read three quotations about New York and discuss which of them they think are true. Before watching the video, students look at one more quote and think what it might mean. Then, they watch the video and check their answers. Before the second viewing, students read seven sentences and replace the words with those in the box (e.g. contemporary, extraordinary, vibrant). The words include adjectives to describe art. Then, students decide if the ideas from the statements were mentioned in the video. They check their answers during the second viewing. Finally, they discuss some questions about the video. They also talk about other cities which are known for their art scene, and about the art scene in their country.
